If you're reading this- hello! You're one of the lucky few early adopters of my newsletter, Thrifted Design Leadership, where I'll be sharing the lessons I've begged, borrowed and stolen from better design leaders than I.
I’ve been leading design teams for four years, and directly managing ICs for a little over two, in my role as Head of UX at Drest. I’ve always relied heavily on the wise words of others, especially when I was starting out.
Some topics you can expect in the coming months
How to land your first ever role as a people manager
My job hunting spreadsheets and strategies
Tips for finding a design role that actually makes you happy
How to manage people effectively - the difference between mentoring and management (tl:dr- it’s way harder)
The Manifesto for Player-Centred Design
My Notion is filled TO THE BRIM with half-written posts, ideas and thoughts. I can’t wait to share them with you all!
I also wanted a way to connect with my design community that wasn’t Twitter (RIP.) I’ve always admired the words of people like Julie Zhou, and I’ve been missing a space to communicate more long-form about design, games, and what it means to lead in this space. Perhaps this can be it.
